Facial masks should be an integral part of every woman’s beauty regime. Not only do they replenish our skin, but they force us, they allow us to take time for ourselves and relax; after all, it’s impossible to get much of anything done with a layer of creamy goodness slathered over your face, and cucumbers over your eyes.

But why get dressed up and go out to a salon, when you can get the same benefits, and remain comfortable in your own bathroom?

Try this simple yet effective exfoliate mask made with tomato’s, lemon and oats..

  • 1 over-ripe tomato
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp instant oats

Put all ingredients in blender, puree until smooth. Apply to face, let soak 20 minutes, rinse with warm water. Glass of wine optional!

With the first day of winter upon us I am already thinking about the ways to combat the effects of the cold dry weather! I have always been a huge fan of natural and organic treatments.  My numerous trips to Fiji saw me fall in love with the Reniu range by Pure Fiji.  Long have the women of the south pacific and fiji islands used the pure coconut oil and the natural plant extracts to  nourish, moisturize and beautify both skin and hair. But more and more evidence is supporting additional health benefits of coconut oil including  stress relief, maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength.  So could this oil have greater healing powers than first thought click here to read the full article.

Hmmm the end of the week is now upon us and if  like me you are a little ragged around the edges try this simple yet effective formula to refresh your tired eyes!

Mix a little finely chopped mint with some mashed cucumber.

Smooth onto eyelids and relax ( glass of wine is optional but in my case its mandatory)

As you all know I love to share quick natural beauty recipes for us time poor girls by using what we can find in our pantry or local supermarket.

I stumbled across this great site which provided a number of fabulous beauty recipes about the humble Avocado!

Having a teething ten month old I sometimes don’t jump out of bed with that “I’m a super mum glow” but with this simple yet effective treatment for under-eye puffiness using the humble avocado  I am “runway ready” in minutes!

  • Peel and remove the seed from a fresh Australian Avocado.
  • Slice one half into half a centimetre wide crescents.
  • Lie down and place a few slices under each eye.
  • Relax for about 20 minutes.
  • Remove and rinse gently with tepid water. Pat dry.

This remedy of course would be be tried in the confines of your bedroom away from the kids you may be tempted to have a nibble on your eye treatment!

Want to give your locks an overhaul and restore that shine?  Try either switching your regular shampoo for a clarifying one (a shampoo that offers ‘deep clean’) or using this simple home remedy.

Homemade shampoo

  1. Mix two tablespoonfuls of apple cider vinegar with one cup of water.
  2. Shampoo and rinse hair as usual, then wash with solution and rinse

The acid in vinegar strips silicone build up from the hair shaft and smooths down the cuticle to make your hair shiny and luscious.

The humble potato.. . who thought it could be used in your beauty regime

Slice raw potatoes and put them on your eye lids to reduce puffiness.  Or cure swollen feet with a mashed potato foot soak!  I used a packet of  dehydrated mashed potatoes and followed the recipe. Once you have your mashed potatoes add lukewarm or cool water to get the temperature to the right level to soak your feet.  The potatoes will retain heat longer than a traditional foot bath and they help reduce swelling and soften skin.  To make it special add essential oils before you put your feet in. Then indulge feet into one of the best soaks you’ll ever experience!   (It’s perfect for making use of those leftovers…)  This same concept can be used with Oats.  Oats can be soothing and deeply restorative to dry cracked and painful feet.
